What makes the meal burn faster? Is it the shape of the rice husks?

Meal burns faster if it’s covering the rice husks because of surface area. When you light a pile of meal it burns from the outside in, but when you light a pile of meal coated rice hulls the flame reaches down in to the crevices of the pile and burns from the inside out.--Pyrogeek 00:59, 24 December 2008 (EST)

If you are using actual rice husks, do you still use the same amount as specified in the turorial(one half cup)/Gabriel
